In order to attract new members and bring together a community of professionals from all over the world, the Academy of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Technicians (AVECCT) contacted VetNetwork to develop a website with several advanced administrative features. Of central importance to AVECCT's leadership was that they retain the ability to edit the pages of their website as they had previously with Macromedia's Contribute product. The administrator of the website also needed to have the ability to set permissions on pages so that some would be available only to members while others could be accessed by the public.
Also very important was that a database of members be developed that could be accessed and managed from any desktop. In this database, it was requested that in addition to the required member information, users could upload their photos to their profiles and manage their password information with ease.
Finally, AVECCT wanted a message board utilizing the same login information as their main site to create a single-login environment. This message board would allow members to discuss various cases and issues, while also allowing them to upload photos and documents to foster discussion.
The overall goal of designing the AVECCT website was to keep all administration and membership areas very simple despite the many powerful features available.
If your organization is looking to grow its membership, one of major benefits you can offer is a website that consolidates your group's information in an organized, attractive way while also facilitating member interaction.
